“Cultivating the sacred.” Engaging in experiences that feel sacred to you and open you up to experiencing life on a deeper level. A walk in the woods. A kayak ride across the still water. Watching the birds. Reading a book of poetry. Having a leisurely lunch with an friend. Whatever the experience is, allows you to connect with yourself and the greater world and universe.
Sundays have different meaning for different people. In general, it seems to be a day of a slower pace, most likely less structured than the weekdays. Many people choose to attend a religious service to encounter their version of the sacred. Many people do not, having found that avenue does not satisfy them. They seek other experiences to encounter the sacred.
Sundays can be a wonderful day to consider cultivating the sacred as part of your weekly routine. In practicing mindfulness, being fully present in the moment, we think of engagement in activities or awarenesses that allow us to notice on a deep level that which is around us and in us. And in noticing, we encounter that for which we are grateful. And when we get right down to it, there is so much for which to be grateful. Even in the midst of struggle.
Cultivating the sacred. What a lovely way to re-energize before the week begins another cycle. How will this Sunday be a sacred one for you?
